A new medium composed of" cream of rice" infusion, oxgall, Tween 80, and agar is
described for the sequential development of germ tubes and chlamydospores by Candida
albicans. The procedure used (Dalmau's technique) is an improvement over the fluid
substrate procedures previously advocated for germ tube formation. That the same
preparation is then used for chlamydospore production is of practical importance for the
clinical mycology laboratory.
